12 Cocktails in 12 months

11.20.15

In a random conversation, the subject of trying something new came to talking about new cocktails. So what came out of the conversation to try new things, we will be doing one new cocktail each month for the next twelve months starting in December.

After that conversation, I remembered that I shared a post on Facebook from Food + Wine FWx sharing 5 essential cocktails for November parties.

So the original article is from Liquor.com, and one cocktail that stood out was the Holiday “Sauce”. I also love cranberry, so that makes this even more tempting. Here is the recipe for this holiday cocktail.

Holiday “Sauce”

Ingredients

Cinnamon
Sugar
1.5 oz Hennessy V.S. Cognac
1/2 oz Lemon juice
1 tsp Cranberry sauce (heaping tsp)
1 dash Fee Brothers Cranberry Bitters

Coat the rim of a Martini or coupe glass with a mixture of equal parts cinnamon and sugar, and set aside. Add the remaining ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake and strain into the prepared glass. Garnish with an orange twist.

This is truly a unique cocktail and would be a great start to my cocktail challenge. We’ll share the recipes with you as we go, and feel free to try them for yourself. Let us know how they turn out for you, or if you share them with others.  Follow along each month. We’ll be using the hashtag #12monthcocktailchallenge
