Down for a Moment | 1.3.26

So, I had every intention to post the last Merry Monday of 2025 Monday, but my body had started to turn on me the day after Christmas. I had a dry cough and thought it was the start of another bout with bronchitis. Then coughing hurt in my rib cage, that I had to bare down to cough, sneeze, or laugh. Woke up with a fever, then I knew something was going on. Woke up Saturday with a 100.3 fever. I knew I had to go into recover mode. I haven’t had a fever, let alone be sick, since 2016 so I had to figure out how to get rid of the fever and figure out what was going on. Over a few days, everything was blurred after I turned on my humidifier and everything came out after that. Talked to the on-call doctor to find out I had severe sinusitis caused by the severe drop in barometric pressure here in Michigan over that weekend. Barometric pressure is a huge concern when it comes to sinus issues. That weekend there was a drop of 25+ points from 54 degrees to 27 the next day with high winds.

What I learned was that when your body says have a seat, you sit down. Letting my body run its course through whatever it was fighting was the only way it was going to fully recover. I was down for a week, but I am back and ready to get back to my normal routine. Christmas was good and quiet, and I rang in the New Year on the couch. I am excited about the year ahead, and I am determined to make 2026 the best year yet!
